Thong Siek Food Industry started in the 1970s as a family-run backyard operation. Then, the entire family was involved in the production and distribution of a single product - Fish Ball.
Our strong belief in outstanding quality and our quest for modern methods of production propels our growth to a dynamic conglomerate. Today, Thong Siek is a leading manufacturer, distributor and retailer of surimi-based (minced fish paste) seafood products. Our state-of-the-art 70,000 sq ft factory processes well over 25,000 kg of fish meat daily and more than 60 varieties of appetizing fish-based products for both local and international markets.
Thong Siek was the first in the region to adopt modern technology and processes in our production. Our founder, Mr Lim's trip to Osaka, Japan in 1983 was pivotal in our transformation. Then, Japan was a pioneer in surimi technology and through learning and adopting the Japanese way of production, we were able to increase our output from a mere 3000 kg in the 1970s to more than 6000 kg in 1984.
Through the use of modern technology, Thong Siek was able to produce our products faster and at a consistent quality. This provides us with a unique opportunity to differentiate and brand what was previously considered a traditional product. That brand is, of course, the now famous DoDo brand. Currently, our fully automated lines include grinding, processing and auto-packaging facilities.
Since inception, Thong Siek has maintained a customer-centric business approach. Taking time to listen to our customers and feeling the pulse of the marketplace has allowed us to respond proactively to the evolving needs and tastes of consumers worldwide. This approach has also given rise to the development of many new products, such as "heat and eat" products to meet the global trend towards convenient food. Presently, Thong Siek produces more than 60 varieties of fish based products - from our basic DoDo fish ball, breaded scallop nuggets, ready-to-eat microwavable traditional fish ball noodles, to our tom yum fish cakes - to appeal to a more diverse customer base.
Over the years, Thong Siek has built an extensive network of customers and distributors both locally and internationally. To respond and serve in a timely and efficient manner, we have our interactive Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system in place for our sales team to stay in close touch with our customers. Thus, from the onset of sales ordering right through to delivery, our customers are always assured of the reliable and impeccable service that has long been the hallmark of Thong Siek.
Innovation and R&D has always been a way of life in Thong Siek. From the early discovery of a better way to make quality fish balls with high protein content, to surimi and using it as the key ingredient in our fish balls and fish cakes, Thong Siek is constantly pushing the boundary in biotechnology. Our Research and Microbiology laboratory is run by a team of specialists and professionals who spearhead new product development and ensure that Thong Siek's products are of world-class quality.
