Our management successfully
applied Japanese Technology in the production of fish ball/
fish cake, thus enhancing the taste and quality of our products. |

Thong Siek was the first company
to use Surimi (the Japanese Name for frozen fish meat) as raw
material for its Surimi products. |

1983
|
Mr Lim Boon Chay completed
a study trip to Japan to learn the latest technology in seafood
processing. |

1984
|
The company moved its premises
to Defu Lane and started full-scale production of seafood products. |

1990

The Company further expanded
and become a private limited corporation. |

1991
|
Thong Siek formed its subsidary
company, Thong Siek Trading Pte Ltd to expand marketing and
trading. The company also took over the "Dodo" brand.
The same year, the company moved its production operation to
its 30,000 sq ft modern factory at 52 Senoko Drive, Singapore's
prime industrial area. |

1992
|
Thong Siek made big strides
into the age of automation with the aquisition of a fully automated
Chikuwa plant and started production of roasted fish balls,
which are very popular among Japanese consumers. |

1993
|
With the installation of a
fully automated fish ball/fish cake processing line, Thong Siek
became the first seafood manufacturer to fully mechanize its
production process. |

|
1994
|
Due to the immense escalation
of sales and market demand, much effort and time had been spent
in the design and planning for the construction of a new factory
in Senoko Way with sourcing of new advanced technological equipment
and machinery from overseas. Apart from fixed assets, Thong
Siek also views its people as the most important asset of its
business. |

1995
|
Thong Siek moved into the new
factory at 14 Senoko Way (70,000 sq ft) with some S$7 million
in investments, including setting up new production lines to
facilitate overseas market penetration. |

1996
|
Implementation of ISO 9002
Certification and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point).
Also acquisition of a Halal certificate from MUIS. |

|
1997
|
Installation of a fully automated
production line for imitation Crab Stick and the recruitment
of a production specialist from Japan to assist and improve
production efficiency. With the participation of overseas exhibitions
and marketing trips, new overseas markets were established.
(E.g. UK, USA, Europe, Russia) |

1998
|
A new extension of some 5,000
sq ft was completed including a new extension block and a mezzanine
level. An additional 7,000 sq ft was also acquired from an ex-tenant
block to make room for new machinery and production lines. (E.g.
a breaded line, new packaging machines etc) |

1999
|
With the additional of some
7,000 sq ft recently acquired from ex-tenant block on level
2, Thong Siek is currently upgrading new production line with
high tech equipment and appointed specialist consultants to
ensure full efficiency in productions and maximise output capacity. |

2001
|
Mr Lim Boon Chay was awarded
Enterpreneur of the Year in Singapore, a prestigious award organised
by the country's Association of Small and Medium Enterprises
(ASME). |

2002
|
Mr Lim Boon Chay was conferred
the Taiwan award for Model Young Overseas Enterpreneur 2002. |

2002
|
August:
Thong Siek clinched the Singapore Promising Brand Award
(SPBA) in the Products category, an award organised by the Association
of Small and Medium Enterprises and Lianhe Zaobao. This award
recognises and rewards excellence in branding strategy, planning
and execution. |

2002
|
November:
Thong Siek was successfully listed among Singapore’s
best - the top fifty, most enterprising, privately-held companies
in Singapore for 2002 in the Enterprise 50 Award organised by
Accenture and The Business Times Singapore. |

2002

December:
TSFI was awarded Superbrand Status in Singapore. The
award, judged by an independent jury of experts, pays tribute
to exceptional brands. Only brands that score high enough qualify
to become Brand Council members and be featured in the Superbrand
books. |

2003
|
Spirulina fish ball with tuna
and cheese won the first prize in the New Foods International
Innovation Contest 2002 in Germany, held in conjunction with
the 22nd International New Foods Congress and Anuga Food Fair
2003. The product was specially selected for its concept, excellent
taste and nutritional value, out of 115 new product entries
from 16 countries around the world. |

TSFI was only one
of three companies to be honoured with the Oscar Award organised
by the Agri-Food Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) on
the 18 July 2003, which is also Singapore first ever Food Safety
Day. |

2004
|
TSFI was awarded
a special memorial brand award during International Brand Summit
on the 13 October, jointly organised by Innovative Corporation
and Singapore Economics Development Board. |
